  Harriet was the oldest child out of six of Gashon and Isabelle Monohon of Greenup, Illinois. She married James Ward Van Dyke at age 17 and died 6 months later.(Cause of death unknown)She is buried on the crest of the oldest part of the cemetery. Her father was a very prominent man in Greenup - County Judge and a Greenup store merchant who later turned the business over to his sons, John and Mark. In 1876 he was elected to the State Legislature serving three counties and served for two years. He was also a civic minded man who served as President of the City Council for many years and was instrumential in seeing that the first two story brick school building was erected in Greenup and a strong supporter of his church.
