Geoffrey Aaron Lindquist, 65, of 463 Black Creek Road, Nescopeck, died early Monday morning, May 1, 2017, at Celtic Hospice IPU at Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Oct. 20, 1951, at the Reading (Pa.) Hospital, he was the son of Warren A Dautrich and the late Ethel Irene (Unger) Dautrich.
Geoffrey was a graduate of the Forest Sherman High School, Naples, Italy, which was operated by the Dept. of Armed Services for the children of American military personnel stationed in the area. Geoff’s father served as a career engineer in the U.S. Navy.
After returning home from Naples, Geoff married a young woman from California, and they lived in Point Reyes, where he worked as a landscaper. When he would watch the original John Carpenter movie, “The Fog,” which was filmed in the area, Geoff would always comment about the different landmarks, with which he had firsthand experience.
Geoff and his wife divorced after two years, and he returned to Reading, working as a bartender at several local bars and restaurants, where he met Dennis Comstock of Berwick. Dennis and Geoff became good friends, and he invited Geoff to move to Berwick, where Geoff immediately obtained work bar tending at The Inn at Turkey Hill.
Sadly, cancer stole Dennis from us in 1974, after which Geoff moved over to Nescopeck, residing at the Benjamin Evans Residence, an historic home belonging to Robert (Bob) Lindquist. Here, Geoff remained for the next 41 years, a devoted and loving companion to Bob. In February 2014, Bob adopted Geoff, who changed his last name from Dautrich to Lindquist.
Geoff’s many interests included stained glass, photography, gardening, landscaping, playing classical flute, guitar and synthesizer, running the steam engines at Benjamin Evans Steam Conservatory, entertaining mutual friends and the 100+ guests that would attend the annual summer party and steam up at their home. Geoff was a member of the Garibaldi Club of Berwick, the Berwick Historical Society and the International Stationary Steam Engine Society.
Surviving are his father, Warren Dautrich; a sister, Pamela (Dautrich) Doize, and her husband of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a stepsister, Gerri Boone, of Ephrata; a cousin, Tommy Kline, of Reading; good friends: Michael O’Malley of Hometown, Steven and Mary Baylor of Berwick, Carl Bloom of Berwick, Walter and Leah Haussemann of Lewisburg, Jim Stout and Joe Cappeloni of Berwick; and many others.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck. A private memorial service for family and close friends will be scheduled later.
