- Ruth B. Hackman, 76, of 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Fairmount Homes.
Born in Lingenfeld, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Josef and Susanne (Merz) Weiss. Her husband, Charles R. Hackman, died Sept. 25, 2005.
Ruth was employed for 25 years at Zausner Foods, retiring in 1993.
Surviving are four sons, R. Charles Hackman and his companion, Carla Sheffield, Robert L., married to Cheryl (Shirk) Hackman, Terry M., married to Sheri (Hershey) Hackman, all of New Holland, and Brian S., married to Lynne (Reynolds) Hackman of Leola; a daughter, Sandra, married to Dennis Garman of Ephrata; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and two sisters, Hedwig Weiss, and Ruth's twin, Else Weiss, both of Germany.
Preceding her in death is a son, Russell Hackman, and a brother, Josef Weiss.
Private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Cemetery. Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairmount Homes Sharing Fund, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, PA 17522. (Lancaster Newspapers, 3/5/2009)
