- Marvin L. Hackman, Sr., 88, of Denver, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Gardens at Stevens.
He was born in Lititz to the late Paul H. and Eva (Lechner) Hackman and was the husband of the late Marion L. (Dingee) Hackman who passed away in 2016. They had shared 63 years of marriage.
He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean conflict.
Marvin was a custodian at Salem Church in Reamstown for 26 years. He was a former slow pitch softball coach for many years, was an avid sports fan especially the Phillies and Eagles, and he had enjoyed visiting his cabin in Tioga County and taking long drives with his wife and family.
He worked as a cabinetry finisher for Heritage Custom Kitchens and retired in 2000.
Marvin is survived by a daughter, Ramona Sally, wife of Rick Lorah of Reamstown; 5 sons, Marvin Hackman, Jr. of Ephrata, Roy Paul Hackman of Akron, Eugene Lamar, husband of Patricia (Swisher) Hackman of Ephrata, Brett Hackman of Ephrata, Thomas, husband of Heather (Wanner) Hackman of Sinking Spring; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, from 9 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am, with Pastor Shawn Crills officiating. Interment will take place in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded.
