- George W. Lutz, 91, of Reading, passed April 19th in Manorcare, Laureldale.
He was the widower of Nelda M. (Richards) Lutz, who passed in 2002. Born in Millcreek Township, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Lucy E. (Strickler) Lutz.
After the passing of his father, at age 14, George went to work full time to support his mother, brothers and sisters. He worked for Follmer Trucking as a driver for 38 years unil his retirement in March of 1986.
He was a member of Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, Bernville. George was a life member of the Pennwyn Motor Assoc. and a member of Teamsters Union #429.
George enjoyed hunting, playing all types of card games, solving puzzles, spending time with family at reunions, spending time with friends at Wegman's Restaurant and bird watching with his companion, Edna.
He was very proud of his children and grandchildren's
accomplishments.
He is survived by daughters: Sherry L., wife of James M. Jacobs, Ontelaunee Township; Donna L., wife of Keith A. Humbert, Mt. Penn; Michele, wife of Christopher C. Ackerman, Penn Township; three grandchildren: Jaime Matos, Jill Phillips and Christopher Ackerman; four great-grandchildren: John, Julia, Trey and Chase; brother, Gerald Lutz, husband of Kim Lutz; sister, Lorraine Grant; many nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Edna M. Kemp, Laureldale.
He was predeceased by ten siblings: Ellen Waruszewski, Carl Lutz, Verna Lutz, Florence Wunder, Dorothy Seidel, Irvin Lutz, Sarah Dunlap, Raymond Lutz Jr., Kenneth Lutz and Shirley Harris.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Henninger Funeral Home, Inc., 229 North 5th St., Reading. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to time of service. Interment will be in Christ Little Tulpehocken Cemetery.
