  Bill Lingley was born to William Shepherd Dunn (1868 - 1954) and Annie Louise Vinal (1872-1914) and was adopted by Charles R. and Hattie B. (Teasdale) Lingley. Charles Lingley was a professor at Dartmouth College, and Bill graduated from Dartmouth. He married Mary Elizabeth Simpson (1915-2013) on Aug 7, 1940. They had 3 children: Harriet Louise (Hattie) Lingley m. Alan B. Dixon; Lyle Elizabeth(Libet) Lingley m. Eugene Gardner; and William S. Lingley Jr. m. Leslie Lathrop. all living in 2017. He was well educated, but his education did not help with a career. He was a salesman, and later teacher at business school and a brief time with the American Cancer society. During WWII and following time, he was fearful that the west coast would be bombed--family moved to Bellevue, which in reality was no safer than home in Burien, WA. William's ashes are spread at Mt. Rainier along with his wife's. 5 grandsons and 3 great grand daughters as of 2019
