  Mrs. Ruth M. Witters passed away at the hospital in Hastings Friday, March 5, at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 9 days. Deceased was the mother of Mrs O. N. Stickler of this place. She was in poor health for a number of years and lived here with her daughter part of the time. Her home was at DeWitt, Neb. She was taken to Hastings for treatment about three months ago, but her condition did not improve. The remains were brought to Bertrand Monday, and the funeral held on Tuesday at the Strickler residence, and Rev. Triplett of the Congregational church preached from Rev. 14:13, a text selected by Mrs. Witters herself. Singing was by a quartet composed of Mrs. Schreck, Miss Spencer, Mr. Beyrer and Mr. Slater. The body was laid to rest in Highland cemetery. The funeral was attended by the husband of the deceased, J. L. Witters, of DeWitt, Neb., and by a sister and nephew, Mrs. J. R.
