- RICHARD V. SMITH, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Cov-ington Manor. He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Hartford City, a son of the late Orland and Eleanor (Neal) Smith. He retired in 1987, working as a machinist. He had worked for a number of companies including General Electric for 25 years and Bowmar Instruments for eight years. He was a member of Colony Heights Church of God and was an avid golfer and bowler. His ability and willingness to fix most anything was one of his many attributes that made him loved by all. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Wanda (Smead) Smith of Fort Wayne; children, David A. (Lorraine) Smith and Steven L. (Kathleen) Smith, both of Fort Wayne, and Sharon E. (Greg) Hoffman of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Angela Upton, Joshua Smith, Stephanie Ellis, Elizabeth Smith, Ashley Bell, Stuart Smith, Kyle Smith, and Katelyn Zuber; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Smith; and sister, Marilyn Lloyd. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, (IN 46804), with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
