- Elizabeth "Bette" (Hackman) Bender, 86, of Lititz, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on, Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Luther Acres Nursing Home, Lititz.
She was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Alger T. and Bertha (Eshleman) Hackman and was the wife of the late Eugene Bender, whom passed away in January of 1987. She was the companion of Kenneth Adair.
Bette was a member of Grace E.C. Church, Ephrata. She was a volunteer for the Ephrata Community Hospital Gray Lady and an Ephrata Lioness. She was a wonderful caregiver. During her working years, she was a secretary for the W.W. Moyer Company.
She is survived by a son, Thomas A., husband of Linda (Grube) Bender of Akron; 2 grandchildren, David, husband of Greta Bender, and Scott E. Bender; a great granddaughter, Rilee; and a sister, Patricia Ebersole of Lancaster.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am, on Wednesday, August 3rd, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron.
