  Samuel Dickey, Jr. (II) was born in Ulster, Ireland about 1730. With his father, Samuel Sr. (I) and family, he emigrated to America prior to 1739 and settled in East Nottingham Township, several miles south of Oxford. He married Mary Jackson in 1759; Mary coming from a notable family in Lower Oxford. They eventually settled on a 260 acre farm called "Palmyra" south of Oxford in East Nottingham Township.
