- NEVILLE TOWNSHIP - David J. Pugh, 54, a lifelong resident of Neville Township, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, in the emergency room of the Sewickley Valley Hospital.
Born in Sewickley on July 6, 1951, Dave was a 1969 graduate of Neville Township High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was well known and respected as a police officer for Neville Township for 33 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing softball in many leagues, most recently Deacon's Design, as well as bowling at the Corpen.
He is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Rita (Berryhill) Pugh; his parents, Rose Marie and Tom Greiner, Bradenton, Fla., and Patricia Pugh, Neville Island; two daughters, Stacy and Justin Janeda, and Ashley Pugh, and Shawn, all of Neville island; four grandchildren, Justin, Kaylee, Gavin and Aubrey; four sisters, Paula and Philip Cole, Neville Island; Leslie and David Bane, Moon Township; Wendy and Ron Lowrey, Carrick, and Colleen Pugh, Leetsdale; two brothers, Thomas and Lore Pugh, Youngstown, Ohio, and Michael and Jennifer Pugh, Neville Island. Also, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Pugh, and a grandson, Neil Janeda.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. in the COPELAND CORAOPOLIS FUNERAL HOME, 867 Fifth Ave. www.copelandfuneral-homes.com, where a funeral service will be held Saturday. Time to be announced.
Burial will be in Coraopolis Cemetery with military honors and a police tribute.
The family suggests memorials, in his name, be made to the Neville Township Volunteer Firemen or Valley Ambulance Authority.
