- Paul R. (Butch) (PapPap) Blessing, 73, of Bowmansville, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Brecknock Township.
He was born in Warwick Township, a son of the late George A. and Mazie N. Hackman Blessing. He was the husband of the late Adeline Blessing who died in 2002. He was the companion of Mildred (Mickey) Witwer of Bowmansville.
He was a lifetime member and past president of the Schoeneck Lions Club, a member of the Cocalico Senior Center, a former member of the Lancaster Co. C. B. Club and Brunnerville Volunteer Fire Co. He was an avid Phillies baseball fan.
He formerly worked as a butcher at Markley's Meats in Lexington and until recently delivered newspapers for the Lancaster Newspapers and The Shopping News.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy M., wife of Malcolm (J.R.) Wehner of Conestoga; his grandchildren, Beth, wife of Eddie Cintron of Hopeland, Barbara Heymann of Denver, Robert Wehner of Mt. Joy; and great grandchildren, Britney and Jamie Bolton and Victoria and Danielle Cintron; a brother, Nelson, husband of Lucy Blessing of Craley, and a sister, Shirley Hawkins of Lititz.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and also a brother, Clyde, sister, Mary Ann Blessing, and great grandson, Daniel Cintron.
Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 16th followed by his funeral service at 7:30 P.M. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. Interment services will be held at the Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery, Pine Hill Road, Lititz, on Thursday, April 17th at 9:30 A.M.
The family requests memorial contributions in Paul's memory be sent to the Schoeneck Lions Club, 130 W. Queen Street, Stevens, Pa. 17578. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Akron/Ephrata.
