- Loretta J. Nice, of New Holland and formerly of Souderton, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2021, with her daughters by her side. She was 87 years old.
She was the wife of the late Melvin R. Nice who preceded her in death on August 17, 2017. The couple was happily married for 59 years.
Born in Hilltown Twp., she was the daughter of the late Jacob H. Wasser and Florence E. (Weller) Dise. Loretta was a 1951 graduate of Souderton Area High School.
In her early years, Loretta worked as a bank teller for Union National Bank for more than ten years. Then she later became a homemaker for over 45 years.
She was a life time member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Souderton.
Loretta was an avid reader. She loved gardening, needlepoint, knitting, and sewing. Along with spending lots of time with her family, Loretta loved animals, especially her cats.
Her love for those close to her was always shown in the way she sent greeting cards on special occasions and gave thoughtful simple gifts. In her later years, we always knew we'd find Asher's candy and holiday-themed tissue packs in our gift bags. She was a master cook & baker when her children were younger. Everyone looked forward to her lemon squares, Rice Krispy treats and homemade Chex Mix. Her grandchildren especially loved "Nana's birthday cake" for their birthdays.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Webb and her husband Thomas, of Lititz, PA, and Deborah Stetter and her husband Paul, of Denver, PA; four grandchildren, Ella Schnoor, Gabrielle Putt, Peyton Stetter, and Colin Stetter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a stepfather, Albert Dise, and a brother Charles Wasser.
Her Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Sadler– Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Telford, where a visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, 266 N. 2nd Street, Souderton, PA.
