Powell was born in Marion County, Iowa, February 16, 1854, where he lived until 1900 when he moved to Columbia Falls and resided there until his death February 15, 1931. He was married to Rebecca Burch in 1880. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Georgia Lenon, Mrs. Leon Lenon, and Mrs. Ruth Graham of Columbia Falls and Mrs. Mary Sagen of Whitefish; two sons, Charles and Robert Powell of Oakland, California and 18 grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, E.B. Powell of Polson, Montana; S.D. Powell of Orange, California; Clark Powell of Warsaw, Indiana, and W.W. Powell of Ogden, Utah, and one sister Mrs. Joe Harshman of Pleasantville, Iowa.
