- Emily S. Yarnall Harshman, 90, of East Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012.
She was born in Lancaster to the late Elwood P. and Hattie S. (Bear) Sheetz and was the wife of the late Jed C. Harshman.
Emily was a graduate of the 1938 Upper Leacock High School, a member of Ebenezer EC Church, Brownstown, where she was a former Sunday School Treasurer for the church, and a member of the West Earl Lioness Club and Young at Heart Seniors. She also attended Bethany Presbyterian Church. Emily enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo, and traveling. During her working years, she worked as a bank teller for Brownstown National Bank and American Bank, for 24 years, and was a retired postal clerk for the Brownstown Post Office.
Emily is survived by a son, Scott Yarnall of Landisville; 3 step daughters, Susan, wife of Donald Piefer of East Petersburg, Janet, wife of Jim McColgan of Morgantown, Kay, wife of Darrell DiStefano of Elkton, Md; 8 grandchildren, Jared, Nick, Brian, Michael, Kristy, Andy, Tad, and Zach; 8 great grandchildren; and a former daughter in law, Joni Yarnall.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Sheetz, and her first husband, James F. Yarnall.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 8, from 9 to 10 am, at Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. 9th St., Akron, followed by her funeral service held at 10 am, with Rev. Bruce Willier officiating. Interment will take place in the Brownstown Cemetery.
