Mrs. Phoebe Chambers, for many years a resident of near Sugar's Bridge, quietly observed her 99th birthday anniversary Saturday. Until recently she has enjoyed good health and has been able to do a few household duties each day. She gets around well.
At the present time she is making her home with Mrs. Charlotte Granie, 412 West Union street. A number of members of her family called on Saturday and Mrs. Chambers received a number of cards and remembrances.
Mrs. Chambers, who is the widow of Marshall Chambers, was the mother of two children. The two who are living are Elizabeth, who takes care of her mother, and Mrs. Elsie Harper, of Marshallton. There are eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Phebe P. Chambers
At her home on Maple Avenue, West Chester, Phebe Pownall Chambers, formerly of Sugar's Bridge, in West Bradford township, passed away yesterday afternoon in the 100th year of her age. She had been ill only a few days.
Mrs. Chambers was born at Christiana on Third-month 14th, 1843, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Pownall Whitson and was the last of her family. Her late husband, whose death occurred in 1917, long conducted the Brandywine tannery and grist mill at Sugar's Bridge. For seventy-eight years she made her home there. For the past year and a half she had been living in West Chester.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Whitson Chambers; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Anna B. Grover, and a son, George Caleb Chambers, are deceased.
She was a member of the Sadsbury Friend's Meeting in Lancaster county.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from the Hicks Funeral Home, 229 S. High St., West Chester, on 6th-day, the 9th inst., at 2 p.m. Interment in Rosedale Friends' Burial Grounds. Friends may call 5th-day evening.
