  Leon R. Sweigart, 77, born in Adamstown, PA and a lifelong resident of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Isabel (Gerard) Sweigart, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage, and son of the late Raymond and Esther (Rollman) Sweigart. Leon graduated from Ephrata High School in 1952. He was on the Lancaster County Champion 1952 Ephrata High School Baseball Team and he also won the Lancaster County Batting Title that year. A veteran of the Korean War, Leon served as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Ephrata and formerly was a member of Grace E.C. Church in Ephrata for over 50 years. Leon retired from Warner-Lambert in Lititz after 39 years of employment and was a member of the Warner-Lambert Retirees Club. A 320 Mason, Leon was a member of the Ephrata Blue Lodge #665 F&AM and the Reading Consistory. He was also a member of the Berks County Young Republicans, Ephrata Golden Years, and Hope United Methodist 60 Plus Clubs and was a former Ephrata Lions Club member. Leon enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, Penn State Nittany Lions, and North Carolina Tar Heels. He also enjoyed traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gail L. Gross of Crofton, MD, a son, Kerry L. Sweigart of Wyomissing, PA, three grandchildren, Michelle Wilcox of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Christopher Gross of Lancaster, PA, and Mackenzie Sweigart of Shillington, PA, and a great grandson, Christian Wilcox of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also surviving are two sisters, Janet, wife of Elwood Hackman, and Elaine Heisler, all of Ephrata, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Kenneth Sweigart and a sister, Margaret Reider. VIEWINGS: 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA and from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Hope U.M. Church, 3474 Rothsville Rd., Ephrata, PA. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10 a.m. on Thursday at Hope U.M. Church with A. Richard Erisman officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. Services are under the care of Paul L.
