- Virginia H. (Hallacher) Lambert, 91, of West Lawn, a former teacher in the Wilson School District, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family, at Columbia Cottage, Wyomissing. She was the wife of the late Richard R. Lambert, who died Oct. 25, 2004.
Born in Sinking Spring, Ginny was a daughter of the late Paul E. and Mattie M. (Kemp) Hallacher.
Ginny was the salutatorian of the Sinking Spring High School, class of 1943, where she served as class secretary. She later served for many years as the secretary for the Sinking Spring High School Alumni Association.
She was an honor graduate of the Reading Business Institute in 1944 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Albright College in 1948. She also received additional certification credits from Kutztown State College.
Ginny worked as an assistant at the Reading Public Library from 1948-1952 and taught second grade in the Wilson School District from 1964-1987.
She was a volunteer at the Reading Hospital for 22 years, and served in the Children's Clinic and later in the hospital's medical library.
During their retirement, Ginny and Richard enjoyed travel, being members of the Sinking Spring Historical Society, genealogy, the family bungalow and time spent with their family.
Ginny is survived by a son, Jeffrey R. Lambert, husband of Kathleen; a daughter, Ann M. wife of James W. Stein; a brother, Donald P. Hallacher, Palmyra; six grandchildren, Zachary L. Lambert, Heather A. Lambert, Rodney J. Priebe, III, Michael J. Stein, Megan E. Dietrich, and Kelly A. Stein wife of Christopher Maynard; and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. Burial will be private.
