  The News Mt. Pleasant, Iowa Saturday, June 14, 1975, Page 7 William Walker Montgomery, 85, died at Henry County Memorial Hospital about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 1975. The son of E.C. and Martha Carter Montgomery, he was born Dec. 26, 1889, in Henry County. A life-long resident of Mt. Pleasant and Henry County, he worked for Henry County road department for many years. On March 5, 1913, he was married to Grace Moxley who survives. Also surviving are one son and two daughters, Hoyt Montgomery of Burlington, Mrs. Harold (Martha) Beery of San Antonia, Texas, and Mrs. Melvin C. (Mary) Smith of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Webb, pastor of Salem Congregational Church of Salem, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friends who desire may contribute to a piano fund of the Salem Congregational Church in memory of Mr. Montgomery.
