  She was born to Jay O. and Ellabud Wallace Hamm,as an eighth grader, she began school at Interior,she graduated in 1945 in a class of 1, since her class mates had been drafted. Viola and her husband were avid high school basketball and volleyball fans. She was married in 1945 in Rapid City, they are parents of three childen. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Glenn, Lee, and Wayne Hamm; a sister-in-law Carol Anne Hamm; one great-granddaughter Makayla Madeline Mattox as an infant; one great-grandson Jacob Williams as an infant; and a granddaughter-in-law Stephanie Williams.
