- Buried on the 27th day of the 11th month 1790.
Son of Lydia Lewis and Joseph Sharples. He was born 12 mo 7, 1710/1711 in Nether Providence Twp, and died 11 mo 24, 1790 in Middletown Twp. He married Jane Newlin, daughter of Mary Woodward and John Newlin, at Concord Friends Mtg on 3 mo 26, 1736.

Mary, married Cornelius Wood.
John, born 7 mo 26, 1738 and died 6 mo 16, 1805 at Middletown, unmarried.
Thomas, born 12 mo 26, 1739/1740 and died 11 mo 24, 1811 at Middletown, unmarried.
Lydia, married William Russell.
Abigail, born 1 mo 5, 1743/1744 and died after 1816, unmarried.
Samuel, born 11 mo 17, 1745/1746 and died 11 mo 1746/1747.
Hannah, married William Eddings.
Susanna, married Jacob Talbot.
Phebe, married Peter Smedley.
Rachel, married Nathaniel Walter.
Samuel, born 9 mo 3, 1756 and died 7 mo 1764.
Joel, married Hannah Mendenhall.
His parents, Lydia and Joseph Sharples, conveyed to son Samuel Sharples, weaver of Middletown, 100 acres of the original survey in Middletown in July 1736. Samuel purchased additional acreage from his brother Joseph in 1739, and from Thomas and Margaret Grisell in 1754. In 1764 he was assessed with 217 acres and buildings, 7 horses, 7 cattle, and 19 sheep.
Samuel and his wife were buried at Middletown Mtg.
