- Samuel Ruoss, 98, of Myerstown, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at StoneRidge Poplar Run, Myerstown.
He was the husband of Blanche A. (Kessler) Ruoss, who died March 7, 2014.
Born in Fritztown, PA on February 14, 1919, he was the son of the late William and Sally (Lorah) Ruoss.
A member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown, he served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. Samuel worked as a house parent at Bethany Children's Home, Womelsdorf, for 14 years, retiring in 1985. He also worked at the No-Mend Knitting Mill as a machinist for 20 years. Samuel was a member of AARP, and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by daughters, Sylvia, wife of Felix Perrero, of Palmyra, Carol, wife of Michael Patches, of Newmanstown, Susan, wife of Kenneth Shirk, of Fredericksburg; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Althouse, of Denver, PA; Sarah, wife of Wilbur Bentz, of Wernersville, and Nancy Noecker, of Womelsdorf. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Shuey; sisters, Mamie, Ida, and Edna; and brothers, Edward, Charles, James, and Harry Ruoss.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Grand View Memorial Park, Lebanon.
