  Mildred M. Gettel, 81, of 2689 Sarah Place, Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Chambersburg, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Hershey Medical Center, where she had been a patient for a month. She was the wife of the late Byron W. Gettel, who died in November 1992. Born in Rehrersburg, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Edna Haag Bickel. She was a 1938 graduate of Womelsdorf High School, and she worked as a secretary for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 20 years until her retirement. She was a volunteer for the Blood Bank, the Welcome Center and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, all in Chambersburg. She was involved with the Totempole Playhouse and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Chambersburg. She is survived by a brother, Robert Bickel of Lebanon; sisters Arlene Krause of Myerstown, Betty Wenrich of Robesonia and Shirley Ditzler of Jonestown; six nieces; and seven nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Lebanon Daily News, Friday, 12 Apr 2002
